I downloaded this eBook for my kindle. On Amazon this book is currently free. Yep I said FREE. I enjoyed reading Worth the Weight however there was one main issue I had with the story and this related to the character perceiving herself to be “fat” at a size 10.
Love overcomes old feelings of regret that only time can heal for the two main characters to move forward in life. Written by Mara Jacobs, this book does deliver in the nostalgic, finally getting together with your high school sweetheart, kind of way. The book is well written with very few errors. For a free book I was impressed with the development of the characters as a whole and the editing.
The only negative is main character really makes a big to-do about being overweight at one point in her life, while a size 10. Are you kidding me? Come on! A size 10 is NOT fat. This is the primary issue I had with Worth the Weight. There are places in the book where the main character measures her “fatness” by simply rolling over in bed to measure the span of her belly from hip to hip using the width of her hand. Personally, I fee this sends the wrong message to women reading this book. I mean when is a size 10 considered overweight? Unless your 5’0 a size 10 is not overweight. The main character is 5’8 or 5’9.
Overall, this eBook is worth its weight in reading. If you’re a fan of a successful woman coming back to have sex her high school boyfriend for the first time in 20 plus years, then this is the book for you. Plus, its free for Amazon Kindle readers.
I downloaded Slow Burn: Zero Day, Book 1 from Amazon on my Kindle about a week ago. Yep, I am already done with this book. This is a very good apocalyptic novel. There is something about the flu creating zombies that just makes sense to me. LOL If you own a Kindle, right now you can download this book for free from Amazon.com and read the book yourself.
Slow Burn: Zero Day starts out with meeting the main character Zed Zane. Yea, I know the name is sorta crazy but it works for how the author (Bobby Adair) wants to introduce the main character. The name fits Zed as a misfit in his own realm of life. Zed does absolutely nothing until the flu takes over the world and he has to step-it-up just to survive.
Zed is lead from having a family lunch to being jailed for killing his step-father to being a hero for taking care of business. The main character is relatable because the situations he finds himself in are believable even though it’s a new crazy world. I like how Adair uses the flu as a “slow burn” to making them zombies. Of course, some people are immune to the flu even though they have got the virus.
The author, Bobby Adair, does a great job introducing Zed Zane from a realistic standpoint. The book is well written with a decent plot and a flowing story line. I really enjoyed the no-nonsense way Adair writes. This type of writing relates to many types of individuals whether young or old. There is nothing in this book that is too offensive even to younger readers but yet the book “hooks” you from the beginning.
My recommendation is that this is a good read if you like post apocalyptic novels of zombie eating fiends. Slow Burn: Zero Day, Book 1 is well written for a new self published author. I honestly look forward to the adventures of Zed Zane if Adair can keep it interesting.
Are you missing the Walking Dead? Who isn’t right? Well I have your answer in this novel I found in the Lending Library in Amazon Prime. This will cure your Walking Dead withdrawals until the new season starts in the fall. 🙂
I borrowed Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End from the Amazon Lending Library through Prime. Every moment of this book is suspenseful and rich in detail. I especially like that the author blogged the entire book. Yes, I said the ENTIRE novel is a blog. This alone is what makes the novel so interesting in itself; but add the fact the book is REALLY GOOD, just makes this an excellent read.
The author, Manel Loureiro, blogs about how the zombie ‘epidemic’ began and the fall of the human race. Each blogg is detailed with very little character dialoge. The main character is the blogger and he does a really REALLY good job of hooking you into what is going on in his world. The book is easy to read, well written, and you will probably want to make time to simply read the next blog. Yes, the book is THAT good.
I highly recommend this novel! A+++
If you enjoy blogging and zombies, you will enjoy this book.
